Fulltime (40 hours)

Reporting to the VP – North America, the Project Design Engineer is responsible for overseeing and providing design support by engaging and understanding client requirements then transforming that into a facility design

We are currently building a permanent office in the Niagara Region to support design and project development for the North American market.

KUBO Group now consists of approximately 240 employees who are active worldwide at our offices, in our own production facility in the Netherlands and at construction sites worldwide. Key responsibilities

  • As a member of the North American engineering team, the Electrical Engineer interfaces both within the KUBO organization and with our external strategic partners to deliver effective Greenhouse and facility electrical designs;
  • Developing a fundamental electrical design by determining and collecting preliminary loads then delivering in the form of one line and physical layout optimizing materials and manpower.
  • Assisting clients with information gathering necessary to determine utility requirements and prepare submissions in cooperation with 3rd party Engineering services.
  • Facilitate or in some cases procure 3rd party Engineering services on clients behalf in order to develop the necessary Electrical documentation to obtain permit sets.
  • Represents the company’s technical position clearly, skillfully and effectively with world-class customers and technology partners in the global food and agriculture sector (CEA);
  • Works in close partnership with our Netherlands Home Office developing the company’s ability to deliver both designs and proposals quickly and accurately;
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures (Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety, etc.);
  • Responsible for contributing to a strong engineering organization and culture;
  • Key member of the Team to further grow and bolster company’s innovation and IP strategy;
  • Work in coordination with Project Controls to keep project stakeholders and senior management informed on key project metrics;
  • Participate in the professional development of the team.

Who are we looking for?

Job Requirements:

  • B.Sc. or B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from an accredited recognized institution;
  • 5 years of Design & Engineering experience in a construction or design environment;
  • Professional engineering (P. Eng) or eligibility (EIT) designation an asset;
  • Experience with indoor agricultural/greenhouse environments a definite asset;
  • Strong presence and business acumen with the ability to effectively guide the design effort and gain the confidence of clients;
  • Strong oral & written communication skills in the English language (Bilinguisme en français, un atout certain) for superior communication with customers in Canada and the USA;
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis and flexibility with working hours;
  • Highly collaborative and flexible - Ability to build effective working relationships with others inside and outside the organization, including leadership.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);
  • Proficiency in Autocad;
  • Experience with process flows, guidelines to standardize the workflow process;
  • Results driven, you know how to participate in the technical details with analytical, planning and problem- solving skills;
  • Ability to establish excellent business relationships with key suppliers, clients, business associates and stakeholders;
  • Possess solution-based design, troubleshooting and failure prevention skills to enhance productivity, company revenue while addressing our client’s needs;
  • Ability to contribute to a positive, safe and productive team atmosphere;
  • Experience at responding to complex and stressful situations and resolving issues positively;
  • Experience within the food, agricultural or CEA sectors a definite plus;
  • Able to utilize networking software (Teams, etc.) and willingness to work with clients in different regions and time zones.
