Reporting to the VP – North America, the Project Design Engineer is responsible for overseeing and providing design support by engaging and understanding client requirements then transforming that into a facility design

The KUBO Group based in the Netherlands, is a World Leader with 80 years of experience providing Controlled Environmental Agriculture (CEA) projects through innovative solutions around the world. We are currently building a permanent office in the Niagara Region to support design and project development for the North American market.

KUBO Group now consists of approximately 240 employees who are active worldwide at our offices, in our own production facility in the Netherlands and at construction sites worldwide. We have now opened branches in China, Canada and the US and will continue to expand in the coming years. We are also proud of the fact that recently PDI, HAWE and SDF have also joined the KUBO Group. Key responsibilities

  • Ideally versed in construction methodologies and procedures and able to work with a team of professionals of different disciplines to harmonize communications and technical information;
  • The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills;
  • Ensure all project information and communication is managed effectively and organized in a way for easy access. Ensuring Project Participants are up to date and informed with all relevant information and that meeting minutes are accurate and distributed in a timely manner;
  • Regularly attending weekly construction meetings (virtual) following up on details, issuing reminders and facilitating effective written communication to internal, external and client participants. Attending Project Development meetings to assist facilitating the flow of information between our Commercial, Engineering and Client representatives;
  • Assisting Project Development Teams (Commercial, Engineering & Client) ensuring the flow of information and detail is consistent and up to date;
  • Learn and facilitate in the collecting of documents and information to assist clients with obtaining permits and licenses from appropriate authorities;
  • Participates in stakeholder relationship and communication supporting progress reports, communication, paperwork, meetings, etc.

Who are we looking for?

Job Requirements:

  • Education: B.Sc. degree or Technologist Diploma in engineering, building science, architecture, or background in a relevant field;
  • Recent Graduates from a recognized technology program or institution will be considered;
  • Knowledge of project accounting, project controls (cost, schedule, change management, etc.);
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in English at a high level of proficiency both oral and written;
  • Experience in the Greenhouse industry would be considered an asset;
  • Experience responding to complex and stressful situations and resolving issues positively;
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards;
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills;
  • A team player with leadership abilities.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in engineering & construction methods and workflows;
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and/or some Autocad proficiency is a definite asset;
  • Ability to establish excellent business relationships with key suppliers, clients, business associates and stakeholders;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and use time effectively to set action plans to achieve business targets;
  • Strong oral & written communication skills in the English language (Bilinguisme en français, un atout certain) for superior communication with customers in Canada and the USA;
  • Ability to contribute to a positive, safe and productive team atmosphere;
  • Able to follow and uphold standard operating procedures precisely and consistently and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
